Sunday Igboho Threatens to Expose Politicians Behind Oyo School Abductions

Yoruba Nation figure alleges sponsorship of kidnappers, says rescue efforts were blocked amid rising tension in Oriire LGA

Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has threatened to reveal the identities of politicians he claims are behind the recent abduction of students in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Igboho made the disclosure while addressing newly elected executives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) at his residence in the Soka area of Ibadan.

He alleged that certain political figures are actively supporting kidnappers by supplying funds and ammunition, describing the abductions as part of a broader agenda to destabilise the country and erode public confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

According to him, he had volunteered to spearhead operations to flush out the kidnappers from their hideouts but was restrained by the Oyo State Government. He claimed the government later informed him that the abductors had threatened to harm the victims if he proceeded with any rescue attempt.

Igboho further stated that his security outfit, “Iru Ekun,” had received approval from the Federal Government to operate, but alleged that authorities in Oyo State prevented the group from deploying within the state.

His remarks come as anxiety deepens over the abduction of pupils and teachers from three schools in Oriire LGA, a development that has heightened concerns over insecurity in the region.
