One Student Narrowly Escapes as Bandits Kidnap Federal Polytechnic Students in Zamfara

One student escapes as six remain in captivity after pre-dawn raid on off-campus residence in Kaura Namoda

At least seven students of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, have been abducted by suspected armed bandits in a fresh attack that underscores the worsening insecurity in Nigeria’s northwest.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, June 3, when heavily armed gunmen invaded an off-campus residence housing the students on the outskirts of Kaura Namoda town. Witnesses said the attackers struck suddenly, whisking the victims away before help could arrive.

Chairman of Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, Mannir Haidara, confirmed the abduction, noting that security agencies have since launched coordinated operations to rescue the victims and track down the perpetrators.

According to reports, one of the students managed to escape during the હુમલ while six others remain in captivity. The escapee reportedly alerted residents and authorities, prompting an immediate response.

The latest abduction adds to a growing list of attacks targeting students and communities across Zamfara and other parts of northwest Nigeria, where persistent banditry continues to disrupt education, displace families, and heighten fears among residents.

Authorities say efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe return of the abducted students.
