25-year-old suspect nabbed in Ore as police uncover unauthorized medical practice and seize drugs, needles, and other medical equipment
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Idris Nasiru, for allegedly operating an illegal medical facility in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect was apprehended on January 14, 2026, in what the police described as a major breakthrough in the ongoing fight against medical fraud and quackery in Ondo State.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, Nasiru was arrested during an intelligence-led operation carried out by the command’s surveillance team following credible information.
A search conducted at the suspect’s shop, believed to be operating as a clinic, led to the recovery of several medical items, including injection needles, medical drips, bandages, and assorted medical kits.
Further investigation extended to the suspect’s residence, where officers, acting on a duly obtained search warrant, discovered used injection bottles, needles, and syringes, raising serious concerns about the health risks posed to unsuspecting members of the public.
Preliminary findings revealed that Nasiru is not a licensed medical practitioner, confirming that the facility was being operated illegally.
DSP Jimoh disclosed that the suspect is currently cooperating with investigators and has made useful statements. He added that Nasiru will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Commending the officers involved in the operation, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Adebowale Lawal, stressed the importance of intelligence-driven policing in tackling crimes that endanger public health and safety. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
The police commissioner also expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his continued support and leadership in strengthening public safety and addressing medical-related offenses nationwide.
