Delta governor’s aide Ossai Success defends clergyman, says faith in divine healing should not be ridiculed
Pastor Eze, the Lead Pastor of Streams of Joy International, came under intense criticism after an old photo of him praying for the late actor resurfaced on social media. Some users ridiculed the cleric, questioning the effectiveness of his prayers after Ekubo reportedly died following a prolonged battle with cancer.
Reacting via his official Facebook page, Ossai described the mockery as disappointing and insensitive, stressing that faith and belief in divine healing should not be subjects of ridicule.
“I’m disappointed in those mocking Pastor Jerry Eze for praying for Alex Ekubo, just because he still died of cancer,” he wrote.
“Whether you like it or not, God is still in the business of healing and miracles. Don’t laugh your way to self-destruction. The fact that Alex was prayed for doesn’t mean he couldn’t die. God knows what is best.”
His comments have further fueled debate online, with opinions sharply divided. While some Nigerians backed his stance, emphasizing the importance of faith and prayer, others questioned the role of spiritual intervention in terminal illnesses.
Meanwhile, tributes have continued to pour in from across Nollywood and beyond, as colleagues and fans mourn the loss of Alex Ekubo.
