Police chief vows intensified fight against banditry as fallen anti-bomb officers are remembered for their sacrifice

Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s determination to defeat banditry and terrorism, declaring that the force will not be deterred by the killing of three officers in Zamfara State.

Disu made the pledge during a condolence visit to the families of the slain officers in Gusau, following a deadly improvised explosive device (IED) incident along the Anka–Bagega Road.

The victims — Officer Commanding of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit, SP Abdulrazak Musa, alongside Inspector Auwal Ahmad and Inspector Murtala Musa — lost their lives while responding to a bomb alert in the line of duty.

Describing the officers as brave and selfless, the IGP said their sacrifice underscores the risks security personnel face daily in protecting lives and maintaining national security.

“We will not succumb to defeat,” Disu stated, stressing that the tragedy would only strengthen the resolve of the police and other security agencies to confront criminal elements across the country.

He assured the bereaved families of the Force’s continued support and welfare, while also commending officers operating under challenging and dangerous conditions nationwide.

The police boss further called on Nigerians to support security agencies with timely and credible information, noting that public cooperation remains vital in the ongoing fight against insecurity.
