Barcelona have renewed their interest in Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen after reportedly making little progress in their pursuit of Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez, with the Galatasaray star now emerging as a priority target.
According to Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb, Barcelona are expected to intensify their efforts to sign the 27-year-old, with sporting director Deco reportedly stepping up the club’s pursuit of Osimhen, who was previously viewed as a fallback option.
Osimhen has strengthened his case with a blistering start to the new Turkish Super Lig season, scoring four goals in Galatasaray’s opening two matches.
The Nigerian scored twice against Corum FK before producing another brace and an assist in a 4-0 victory over Erzurumspor.
He has now registered a direct goal contribution in 15 consecutive Super Lig matches, scoring 15 goals and providing six assists during that run.
Osimhen also finished the 2024/25 campaign as the league’s top scorer with 26 goals in 37 appearances across all competitions, helping Galatasaray secure a domestic double.
His impressive form has continued to attract interest from several top European clubs, with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur also reportedly monitoring his situation.
Galatasaray, however, have maintained that they do not want to sell the striker following his permanent move from Napoli in a club-record €75 million deal.
Barcelona are keen to strengthen their attacking options before the transfer deadline, and Osimhen’s availability could become increasingly significant if the Catalan club fails to secure Alvarez.
