Operation FANSAN YAMMA forces repel coordinated attacks, recover weapons as one soldier dies in line of duty

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully foiled coordinated terrorist attacks across parts of Zamfara and Katsina States, neutralising nine insurgents, including two high-profile kingpins, in a series of decisive operations.

The offensives, conducted between May 1 and May 3, 2026, also resulted in the recovery of four AK-47 rifles, motorcycles, ammunition, mobile phones, and other logistics used by the террористs.

In Katsina State, soldiers from the Forward Operating Base in Fudma engaged insurgents along the Turare–Yantumaki Road in Dutsinma Local Government Area. The troops overpowered the террористs, killing four fighters and seizing weapons, motorcycles, cash, and communication devices.

Meanwhile, in Zamfara State, troops stationed at Forward Operating Base Bagega launched a high-risk operation in Anka Local Government Area, targeting a террорист stronghold. Several террористs were killed, including two notorious kingpins identified as Anaruwa and Gomina.

During the encounter, the террористs initially retreated under heavy fire but later regrouped and attempted a counterattack on the military base. Reinforced troops, backed by air support, repelled the assault and inflicted additional casualties.

Subsequent clearance and exploitation operations led to the elimination of more fleeing террористs and the recovery of additional weapons and motorcycles.

The military confirmed the loss of one soldier during the operation, honouring his sacrifice in the line of duty.

Security forces have since consolidated their positions, maintaining dominance in the affected areas to deter further attacks, while reaffirming their commitment to sustained offensives against террорист elements and the protection of civilian communities.
