Party dismisses coalition rumours as “false and misleading,” insists court action against INEC and alleged political interference remains its top priority.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has firmly denied reports of ongoing talks with the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), describing such claims as entirely false and misleading.
In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party clarified that it is not engaged in any form of negotiation or alliance with any political group ahead of the expected court ruling. The ADC stressed that its immediate focus is on pursuing a legal challenge against what it termed unlawful actions targeting its leadership, allegedly involving the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and agents of the ruling party.
According to the party, securing justice through the courts is critical not only to restoring its internal leadership structure but also to defending the rule of law and safeguarding Nigeria’s multiparty democratic system.
While the ADC acknowledged the importance of opposition unity in the broader political landscape, it reiterated that it has no plans to abandon its platform or enter into any coalition at this stage. The party described ongoing speculation about potential alliances as baseless and unfounded.
Expressing confidence in the judiciary, the ADC maintained that Nigeria’s democratic institutions will withstand mounting pressure and ultimately uphold constitutional principles.
