Ogun State Police neutralise two suspected kidnappers, rescue an abducted victim unharmed, and recover N2.2 million and a firearm after a coordinated anti-kidnapping operation in Obafemi-Owode.

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have killed two suspected kidnappers during a gun battle, rescued an abducted victim unharmed, and recovered N2.2 million alongside a firearm in a coordinated anti-crime operation.

The breakthrough was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, who detailed how the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit executed the mission.

According to the police, the victim was abducted on June 11, 2026, at Ogbe Village in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area, triggering an immediate response from security operatives.

Upon receiving the report, the command swiftly deployed intelligence and tactical teams, launching a targeted operation aimed at rescuing the victim and dismantling the criminal network behind the abduction.

Babaseyi said sustained intelligence gathering, strategic surveillance, and continuous pressure on the suspects forced the gang to release the victim on June 18, unharmed.

The police further revealed that follow-up operations led to a confrontation with members of the gang, during which two suspects were neutralised in a gun duel. Items recovered from the scene included N2.2 million, believed to be proceeds of criminal activity, and a single-barrel gun.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across Ogun State, assuring residents of continued efforts to ensure their safety and security.
