Aviation Minister accuses ADC of sidelining Peter Obi as defections and political realignments intensify ahead of 2027 elections.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has criticised the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over its handling of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, following his exit from the party.

Reacting to Obi’s decision to leave the ADC for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Keyamo argued that the party never fully recognised or positioned the former Anambra State governor as a central figure despite his political weight.

He likened Obi’s treatment within the party to that of a “side attraction,” suggesting that the ADC failed to give him prominence or fully integrate him into its leadership structure.

According to Keyamo, the party’s internal dynamics and public messaging did not reflect a genuine commitment to Obi’s leadership or political influence, ultimately contributing to his departure.

The minister’s remarks come at a time of growing political shifts within Nigeria’s opposition landscape, as parties and key figures reposition themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
