Atiku Names Kenneth Okonkwo Campaign Spokesperson Ahead of 2027 Race

Former Labour Party campaign voice joins ADC flagbearer as consultations intensify with Amaechi and other key allies

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has appointed lawyer and actor Kenneth Okonkwo as his official spokesperson ahead of the 2027 presidential election campaign.

Okonkwo announced the development on Wednesday, describing the role as a privilege and expressing gratitude to Atiku for the trust placed in him. He said the appointment underscores the former vice president’s commitment to dialogue, inclusiveness, and broad-based engagement with Nigerians.

“I will work diligently to effectively communicate the vision and mission of the campaign to the Nigerian people,” Okonkwo stated.

The appointment comes as Atiku, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), steps up consultations with political stakeholders and allies across the country. Earlier on Wednesday, he held a closed-door meeting with his running mate, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, where both leaders reportedly fine-tuned strategies for the 2027 election.

Okonkwo, who previously served as a spokesperson for the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential campaign, has recently emerged as a strong advocate of Atiku’s bid after parting ways with the party. His addition to the campaign team is expected to bolster Atiku’s media outreach and public messaging as the race gathers momentum.
