Emergency responders race to contain raging fire at Bono Energy facility as cause remains unknown.

A major fire outbreak has engulfed the Bono Energy Terminal in the Coconut area of Apapa, Lagos, triggering an emergency response from state fire authorities.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) confirmed on Friday that its personnel are actively battling the blaze at the fuel facility located along the Apapa-Oworonshoki Expressway. The incident has raised fresh concerns over safety in one of Nigeria’s busiest oil and logistics corridors.

In a brief update to journalists, LSFRS spokesperson Shakiru Amodu disclosed that firefighters had been deployed to the scene and were working to contain what he described as a fire explosion.

“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently curbing a fire explosion at Bono Energy Terminal on Apapa-Oworonshoki Expressway, by Coconut, Olodi Apapa, Lagos. Update to follow,” Amodu said.

As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire has not been determined, and there is no official information yet on casualties or the extent of damage.
