ADC Crisis Boils Over: Rival Faction Storms INEC, Demands Official Recognition

Nafiu Gombe-led group accuses David Mark faction of hijacking party, warns INEC against inaction amid rising tensions

Tensions within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) escalated on Thursday as a faction led by Nafiu Gombe staged a protest at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), demanding formal recognition as the party’s legitimate leadership.

The demonstrators accused a rival bloc aligned with former Senate President David Mark of unlawfully taking control of the party structure, alleging a deliberate attempt to sideline what they described as the “authentic leadership” of the ADC.

Addressing journalists during the protest, members of the Gombe-led faction insisted that their group represents the true vision and interests of the party, urging INEC to intervene and validate their leadership claim.

They warned that continued silence or delay by the electoral body could worsen the internal crisis and deepen divisions within the party ahead of future political activities.

Security personnel were deployed to the scene to maintain order as the protest unfolded, with the situation still developing at the time of filing this report.
