Police confirm suspect’s arrest in Kobape as case is transferred to State CID for further investigation.

A 59-year-old Chinese national has been arrested in the Kobape area of Ogun State over an alleged rape at a quarry site.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on January 25, 2026, at a quarry facility located within the area.

A senior security officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the suspect was arrested after the victim lodged a formal complaint with the authorities.

“The 59-year-old Chinese national was arrested following an allegation of rape at a quarry in the Kobape area of the state. He has been taken into custody, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, for a thorough investigation,” the source said.

Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, said the command has commenced a full investigation into the allegation and assured that justice would be pursued in line with the law.
