A Nigerian mother of four has tragically died less than 20 hours after arriving in the United Kingdom to attend her child’s graduation ceremony.
The deceased, identified as Mrs Oluranti Olufunmilayo Esther Akinyemi (née Oluwalana/Ogundana), travelled to the UK on February 11, 2026, ahead of her child’s graduation scheduled for February 18.
According to a post shared on X by SK the Plug, Mrs Akinyemi suffered a sudden cardiac arrest in the early hours of February 12, barely a day after her arrival. She was immediately rushed to Luton and Dunstable Hospital, where she was admitted in critical condition.
The post revealed that she remained in a coma for three days before doctors pronounced her clinically dead on February 14.
The shocking incident has sparked an outpouring of grief on social media, with many expressing condolences to her family and lamenting a journey meant for celebration that ended in devastating loss.
