Workers injured and facilities damaged at Alba and EGA as Middle East tensions surge, raising fears of supply chain disruptions
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have carried out coordinated missile and drone attacks on major aluminium plants in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, targeting Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) and Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA).
The strikes, described by Tehran as retaliation for alleged US and Israeli attacks on its industrial infrastructure, left several workers injured and caused varying degrees of damage at both sites.
Alba confirmed that two employees sustained injuries during the attack, and six workers were wounded and its Abu Dhabi facility suffered significant structural damage.
The escalation marks a sharp rise in regional tensions, with strategic industrial assets now drawn into the conflict. Aluminium production, a key sector in the Gulf, faces potential disruption, sparking concerns over knock-on effects in global supply chains.
Iran has accused the United States and Israel of launching prior strikes on its steel facilities, a claim that has further intensified the already volatile situation.
Analysts warn that the latest developments could ripple beyond the metals market, potentially impacting global energy prices and heightening geopolitical instability across the Middle East.
