Ex-minister cites poor organisation, confusion, and internal disorder, says faction poses no serious threat to Tinubu-led government
Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has launched a scathing critique of a factional convention held by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), branding the gathering as disorganised, chaotic, and lacking basic coordination.
In a statement that has gained wide attention, Fani-Kayode alleged that the event was marred by poor planning and substandard conditions. He claimed attendees appeared visibly uncomfortable, pointing to issues such as inadequate venue arrangements and the absence of air conditioning.
He further described the atmosphere as tense and disorderly, with reports of disagreements and disruptions among participants during the proceedings. According to him, the convention exposed deep cracks within the faction’s structure.
Highlighting what he portrayed as a moment of confusion, Fani-Kayode recounted an incident in which an elderly party figure reportedly referenced the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) instead of the ADC, drawing reactions from attendees before the mistake was corrected.
The former minister argued that the developments reflect a lack of cohesion within the faction, insisting it does not present a credible political alternative ahead of the 2027 general elections. He expressed confidence in the strength and stability of the current administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
His remarks have sparked mixed reactions across the political landscape. While supporters of the ADC have rejected his claims as exaggerated and politically motivated, others see the criticism as indicative of ongoing tensions and fragmentation within opposition ranks.
