Authorities allege former AGN Enugu chairman was recruited as a propagandist in an attempt to destabilise the Tinubu administration.
Nollywood filmmaker and actor, Stanley Amandi, has been arrested by security agencies over his alleged involvement in a coup plot linked to some Nigerian military officers.
Amandi, a respected director and former chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Enugu State chapter, was reportedly taken into custody in September 2025, although details surrounding the case only became public recently.
According to emerging reports, investigators allege that the actor was recruited by suspected coup plotters to serve as a propagandist, using his influence and media skills to advance their agenda. The alleged plan, security sources claim, was part of a broader scheme aimed at unlawfully removing the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
While the full extent of Amandi’s alleged role remains unclear, authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the scope of civilian involvement in the suspected plot and to identify other collaborators.
As of the time of this report, no official statement has been issued by Amandi or his legal representatives, and security agencies have not disclosed whether formal charges have been filed.
